About LeRocato Manufacturing, Inc.

In the summer of 1992, Aberdeen Manufacturing announced it would close its Danielson, CT factory by October. That announcement prompted four of its employees to consider a joint venture forming a sewing company of their own. LeRocato Manufacturing came from that idea.

By January 1993, LeRocato Manufacturing had already lost one of its original founders, acquired 400 sq. ft. of space, and was able to begin manufacturing a small private line of women’s apparel. Through word of mouth and the Yellow Pages, LeRocato Manufacturing began to expand its customer base. By the beginning of 1994, LeRocato Manufacturing was producing products for many large, well-known manufacturers. Production  levels increased into the teens and the company expanded into about 2400 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.

Throughout 1994 and 1995 the customer base remained stable, but the production levels demanded of LeRocato Manufacturing increased. It was time to look for additional manufacturing space. Management approached the Town of Plainfield and learned of the town’s plan to build an incubator building in the new Industrial Park. A decision was made to acquire 5000 sq. ft. of space from the Town of Plainfield. But shortly after agreeing to the 5000 ft, management quickly realized that more space would be required to meet rapidly growing demand.  The town agreed to lease an additional 2500 feet. In October of 1996, LeRocato Manufacturing relocated into Plainfield’s new incubator building.

Throughout the next few years, LeRocato Manufacturing continued to expand and prosper. Employment levels increased and stabilized around 50 employees. We focused on producing fine textiles, mainly kitchen accessories. Another founder left the company, leaving Roz Chviek and Tom Beausoleil as the sole owners. In early 2002, the Town of Plainfield expressed interest in selling its incubator building to LeRocato Manufacturing. The deal was closed in December of 2002 and LeRocato Manufacturing became owner and sole occupant of 15000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space. Since then, LeRocato Manufacturing has become  one of Plainfield, Connecticut’s largest employers.

Although imports continue to hurt the US sewing industry, LeRocato Manufacturing continues to produce some of the finest kitchen products made today. Made in America, we are proud of our distinctive level of quality unmatched by the importers. LeRocato Manufacturing has a flexibility and an ability to produce high-quality products in a timely manner, which cannot be matched by imports. This gives our customers more choices and production options. Our ability to produce smaller quantities and offer complete in-house manufacturing makes our turnaround times extremely fast. Imported orders often take three to six months to arrive. Customers never need to purchase an entire shipping container of product as a minimum order. Customers can order only what they need and get it when they want it.
